Meet Karen Thomson

Nutritionist. Coach. Real-life woman who believes healthy change should actually fit your life.

I help women 40+ simplify nutrition, manage their weight and feel more confident making choices that support their health.

Not through perfection. Not through punishment. And definitely not through another complicated set of food rules.

My approach combines practical nutrition guidance with the coaching skills that help turn knowledge into everyday action.

I believe healthy eating has to work on an ordinary Tuesday—not just when life is perfectly organised.

Because most of us do not live in a nutrition textbook.

My story

I understand what it feels like to want change without wanting your whole life to revolve around it.

I have experienced my own ups and downs with weight, health, confidence and figuring out what actually works in real life.

Over time, my interest in weight management grew into something much bigger: a genuine fascination with nutrition, behaviour and the everyday choices that shape how we feel.

I wanted more than another opinion about food. I wanted the knowledge to understand nutrition properly, communicate it clearly and support women in making informed choices for themselves.

That journey led me to qualify as a Nutritionist and bring together two areas I care deeply about: nutrition and human behaviour.

Why my approach is different

Knowing what to eat is only part of the story.

Most women I meet already know vegetables are good for them. The problem is rarely a complete lack of information.

Nutrition knowledge tells us what may support you. Coaching helps turn that knowledge into something you can actually live.

We look at your food choices, habits, routines, confidence and real life together—because the perfect plan is useless if it lasts four days.

How I work

Clear guidance. Honest conversations. Realistic expectations.

I want you to leave our work understanding more about your own nutrition—not feeling dependent on me to make every decision.

1

I Listen

Before recommending change, I want to understand your habits, lifestyle, goals and what has already been happening.

2

I Simplify

Nutrition can become unnecessarily confusing. We focus on what is relevant and useful for you.

3

We Make It Practical

We look for realistic choices that can work with your family, schedule, preferences and everyday life.

4

You Build Confidence

The goal is greater understanding, stronger habits and more confidence in the choices you make for yourself.

Who I support

My work is especially for women 40+ who are ready for a different approach.

  • You want to lose weight without another extreme diet.
  • You feel confused by conflicting nutrition information.
  • You want healthier meals without preparing separate food for everyone.
  • You start well but struggle to stay consistent when life gets busy.
  • You want to understand your eating habits rather than simply follow rules.
  • You want practical support without judgement or shame.
You do not have to become a different woman before you can become a healthier one.

We start with your life as it is now.

Then we identify the next realistic changes that can help you move towards where you want to be.

Professional support

Knowing when to help—and when another health professional should be involved—matters.

What I can support you with

My nutrition work focuses on everyday healthy eating, food habits, meal strategies, weight management, nutrition education and practical lifestyle changes.

I also use my coaching experience to support confidence, consistency and sustainable habit change.

Your health comes first

Nutrition support does not replace medical diagnosis, treatment or care from your doctor or allied health professional.

If your needs fall outside my professional scope, I will encourage you to seek support from the appropriate qualified health professional.

And when I am not talking nutrition...

You will probably find me somewhere on the road.

Farmer Steve and I travel Australia full-time in our caravan with our Kelpie, Sylvie.

It is a lifestyle I absolutely love—and one that has made my belief in practical nutrition even stronger.

Different towns, small kitchens, travel days and changing routines mean healthy habits have to be flexible.

I am also far more likely to be found enjoying a chai than a coffee. Some principles are simply non-negotiable.
